Single Mass

If we only knew the power of one holy sacrifice of the mass! Its value? Infinite. Its efficacy? Immeasurable.  For it is the same sacrifice that took place on Calvary made present and offered by the priest in persona Christi – in the person of Christ. All of our sacrifices combined cannot equal a single mass, and it is a long-standing teaching that the souls suffering in Purgatory benefit more from a mass offered for them than anything else, and it is for this that they long. Also, a mass offered while a person is still alive on earth is able to help them more than many after death. Were we to fast on bread and water for an entire year, it would not equal one mass. Who can fathom its value to help us reach heaven? To atone for sin? All of the sins ever committed, a single mass could blot out if sinners would repent. The greatest offering we can make to God is to pray the mass in thanksgiving to Him, because we can only render Him perfect justice in the mass, since it is His Son that is offered. The mass carries the greatest power of intercessory prayer, or to obtain graces or petitions, or the conversion of sinners. How foolish is man? He places value on everything, but on that which is most valuable to Him he often forgets. How easily we could have obtained graces for salvation? Man spends so much time and effort acquiring riches and worldly advantage, but he rarely considers his own soul or spiritual good. 

The Traditional Latin Mass is the worship that God Himself desires, therefore it glorifies Him most.  “The world could more easily exist without the sun than without the mass,” said Padre Pio, and it is a pious belief that every mass attended (or offered for another person) will plead on our behalf before the judgement, or will give us another Saint in heaven to plead for us. Many misfortunes will be averted since we will have paid our debt by attending the mass. Many graces will be obtained that otherwise would not have been received. O, that poor sinners only knew its value! They would never leave the altar, they would long for the next holy mass, they would not run out the doors so quickly, but would make a thanksgiving after having received Our Lord in the most Blessed Sacrament. If only they knew, what they were missing, every church would be filled to the brim. That we loved the mass and helped others to go, the world would be a much better place, and if we made it the source and center of our life – the worship of God, we would then fulfill our purpose for existence, and thus be happy and at peace.
